A Chivito al Plato is the national dish of Uruguay. The chivito, which translates as “little goat”, is an Uruguayan recipe made with a thin slice of beefsteak (churrasco), bacon, ham, fried or hard-boiled eggs, mozzarella, tomatoes, and mayonnaise served on a sandwich bun. It’s often served with french fries and a potato, carrot, and pea salad. Other ingredients, such as red beets, peas, grilled or pan-fried red peppers, and slices of cucumber, are commonly added.
