Escalante’s – A Houston Favorite

Escalante’s in The Woodlands is beautifully decorated with otomi arts, grand chandeliers and gorgeous paint colors. There is an outside patio that overlooks the water of Lake Woodlands and large windows so no matter where you are seated, you have a great vista.

The menu at Escalante’s is extensive: you can get combination plates of your typical Tex-Mex favorites, something from the specialty menu, or try one of their famous fajita dishes. Beef, chicken, shrimp or a combination of all three fajita platters – it doesn’t matter which one you order they are all delicious, come on a hot sizzling platter and are served with your choice of 2 sides, pico de gallo and guacamole. A fajita platter is a dish I would recommend to anyone who hadn’t been to the restaurant before; the servings are large with plenty to share or take home as leftovers.

The Enchiladas de Espinacas (spinach enchiladas) are also a menu favorite. I am a self-professed connoisseur of spinach enchiladas and try them at every restaurant I can and I will say that these make my top three list. They are served with fresh spinach and mushrooms are rolled in flour tortillas and topped with your choice of sauce along with Chihuahua cheese. I ordered mine with the roasted corn sauce and no cheese and it was so creamy, I didn’t even miss the cheese. One of the things that makes all of the dishes (including the enchiladas) at Escalante’s so good is their tortillas which are made fresh daily and really tasty.

The kids menu at Escalante’s will please even the pickiest eater with a good variety of Tex-Mex favorites. There are also gluten-free menu options and if you are looking for a good brunch spot, Escalante’s is the perfect place for enjoying a Mimosa, Sangria or Bloody Mary on the weekend, too.
