The recipe can vary but you can always count on a filling that includes meat, cheese, lettuce and tomato. Toss in a side of onion rings and you have a tasty meal everyone will love. Now let’s get on to the recipe.

Jibarito Slider With Fried Onions

If you’ve never had a Jibarito Slider, you need to make one instead of what you were planning on having for dinner.

Ingredients

Sliders

  • 4 Green Plantain
  • Oil for Frying
  • ½ lbs Hamburger meat seasoned with Adobo
  • Sliced American Cheese
  • avocado sliced
  • lettuce
  • Sauce topping of your choice mayo ketchup mojo sauce, etc.
  • You can choose to add tomato or onion

Onion Rings

  • 1 large onion cut into 1/4-inch slices
  • 1 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup milk or as needed
  • ¾ cup dry bread crumbs seasoned salt to taste
  • 1 quart oil for frying or as needed

Instructions

Sliders

  • Cut up Plantains into even slices and place them in water & salt. Drain your water and begin to fry them in hot oil for 3 minutes or until golden.
  • Remove plantain from the oil and smash them down, place them back in the oil to fry for a second time 2 minutes. Put them on a plate with a paper towel to soak up any excess oil.
  • In a separate Pan place your seasoned mini hamburger patties and cook on both sides, then place a square piece of cheese towards the end to melt.
  • Now you can put together your delicious Jibarito Sliders and enjoy eating them

Onion Rings

  • Heat the oil in a deep-fryer to 365 degrees F (185 degrees C).
  • Separate the onion slices into rings, and set aside. In a small bowl, stir together the flour, baking powder and salt.
  • Dip the onion slices into the flour mixture until they are all coated; set aside. Whisk the egg and milk into the flour mixture using a fork. Dip the floured rings into the batter to coat, then place on a wire rack to drain until the batter stops dripping. The wire rack may be placed over a sheet of aluminum foil for easier cleanup. Spread the bread crumbs out on a plate or shallow dish. Place rings one at a time into the crumbs, and scoop the crumbs up over the ring to coat. Give it a hard tap as you remove it from the crumbs. The coating should cling very well. Repeat with the remaining rings.
  • Deep fry the rings a few at a time for 2 to 3 minutes, or until golden brown. Remove to paper towels to drain. Season with seasoning salt, and serve.
