An Haitian delicacy, these are pastries filled with beef inside, but the filling can be replaced by chicken, vegetable mix or any other type of your liking.

For the Dough

  • In the bowl, add the flour, salt and water and knead for a few minutes until obtaining a stiff dough.
  • Cover the dough with plastic wrap and let it sit at room temperature for 20 minutes and while preparing the filling.
  • Unwrap the dough, dust the work surface with flour, and roll the dough into a rough rectangle shape.
  • Fold the dough in thirds, like a letter. Turn 90 degrees, roll and fold again.
  • Repeat about 2 to 4 times, wrap the dough in plastic wrap, and chill for 2 hours.

For the Filling

  • Cook the meat for 3 minutes on medium-low heat in a skillet with the Haitian seasoning better than bouillon base, salt and pepper, diced onions, and mixed peppers. Do not cover.
  • Remove from heat and set asside.

Assemble and Cook

  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Prepare the egg wash and set aside.
  • Cut the puff pastry into square pieces. Fill the middle of the puff pastry with about 1 tablespoon cooked ground beef.
  • Seal the edges with eggs wash using a pastry brush then fold the patties in half and secure the edges by pressing down with a fork.
  • Place the patties on a baking sheet and bake at 400 degrees for 25 minutes or until golden brown. Serve warm and enjoy.
