An Haitian delicacy, these are pastries filled with beef inside, but the filling can be replaced by chicken, vegetable mix or any other type of your liking.
In the bowl, add the flour, salt and water and knead for a few minutes until obtaining a stiff dough.
Cover the dough with plastic wrap and let it sit at room temperature for 20 minutes and while preparing the filling.
Unwrap the dough, dust the work surface with flour, and roll the dough into a rough rectangle shape.
Fold the dough in thirds, like a letter. Turn 90 degrees, roll and fold again.
Repeat about 2 to 4 times, wrap the dough in plastic wrap, and chill for 2 hours.
For the Filling
Cook the meat for 3 minutes on medium-low heat in a skillet with the Haitian seasoning better than bouillon base, salt and pepper, diced onions, and mixed peppers. Do not cover.
Remove from heat and set asside.
Assemble and Cook
Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Prepare the egg wash and set aside.
Cut the puff pastry into square pieces. Fill the middle of the puff pastry with about 1 tablespoon cooked ground beef.
Seal the edges with eggs wash using a pastry brush then fold the patties in half and secure the edges by pressing down with a fork.
Place the patties on a baking sheet and bake at 400 degrees for 25 minutes or until golden brown. Serve warm and enjoy.
