This Frozen Strawberry Daiquiri is the ultimate poolside thirst quencher for hot summer days. This Cuban recipe is made with strawberries, rum, lime juice, and sugar. However, Daiquiris come in many flavors like mango, banana, pineapple, watermelon, cherry, and the Hemmingway Daiquiri, to name a few.

Fresh or Frozen, That is the Question

Some recipes call for fresh strawberries and some call for frozen strawberries but we have included both fresh and frozen strawberries to give both the taste and slushiness for a perfect Daiquiri.

The best rum for a Daiquiri is white rum. White rum has a clean light flavor that works with, instead of against, the fresh flavor of the strawberries. If you want to make a Virgin Strawberry Daiquiri replace the rum with lemon-lime soda.

So break out the blender and toss on some Cuban music for the best Strawberry Daiquiri you have ever tasted.

History of the Daiquiri

Daiquirí is also the name of a beach and an iron mine near Santiago de Cuba and is a word of Taíno origin. The drink was supposedly invented by an American mining engineer named Jennings Cox, who was in Cuba at the time of the Spanish–American War. It is also possible that William A. Chanler, a US congressman who purchased the Santiago iron mines in 1902, introduced the daiquiri to clubs in New York in that year
