Guacamole Dip is a traditional Mexican recipe made by mashing ripe avocados with lime juice, cilantro, and jalapeños. Everyone loves this Salsa de Guacamole recipe because it is quick, easy, and a tasty dip that goes with just about everything.
It’s important to remember that when an avocado is cut, exposure to the air will cause an enzymatic reaction turning the avocado brown within a few hours. You should always store the guacamole dip in an air-tight container or wrapping it tightly in plastic to slow the color change.
Guacamole will go with almost any Hispanic or Latino meal. It’s tasty on Tacos, delicious on Burritos, and irresistible with Tortilla Chips. So grab a few avocados and get to mixing the best treat in Mexican history!
- In a medium bowl, mash together the avocados, lime juice, and salt.3 avocados, 1 lime, 1 tsp salt
- Mix in onion, cilantro, tomatoes, and garlic. Stir in cayenne pepper.½ cup onion, 3 tbsp cilantro, 2 roma, 1 tsp minced garlic, 1 pinch cayenne pepper

History of the Avocado
Avocados were first cultivated in South Central Mexico around 10,000 years ago. In the early 1900s, avocados frequently went by the name alligator pear.
Guacamole has increased avocado sales in the U.S., especially on Super Bowl Sunday and Cinco de Mayo. The rising consumption of guacamole is most likely due to the U.S. government lifting a ban on avocado imports in the 1990s and the growth of the U.S. Latino population.
