The Mojito Cubano Cocktail is the sophisticated sister to the Cuba Libra, another iconic Cuban cocktail. This drink relies on fresh mint leaves to capturing the classic mojito flavor. This is the perfect summer drink to use fresh mint from your garden.

Havana, Cuba, is said to be the birthplace of the mojito. When Sir Francis Drake’s ships sailed toward Havana in 1580 a small boarding party went ashore on Cuba and came back with ingredients for an effective medicine.

The ingredients were aguardiente de caña (translated as “burning water”, a crude form of rum made from sugar cane) mixed with local tropical ingredients: lime, sugarcane juice, and mint.

For the true taste of Cuba, make an authentic Cuban Mojito at home by following our simple Mojito Cubano Cocktail recipe. Be sure to make enough to share with your friends!
